Investigations is a research-based, K-5 mathematics program designed to engage students in making sense of mathematical ideas. The program is designed to:
- Support students to make sense of mathematics and learn that they can be mathematical thinkers.
- Focus on deep computational understanding and fluency with whole numbers as a major goal.
- Provide hand-on and minds-on activities in important areas of mathematics, including rational numbers, geometry, measurement, data, and early algebra, as well as the connections among them.
- Emphasize reasoning about mathematical ideas.
- Engage learners of varying levels in understanding mathematics with multiple opportunities for practice and relevant application.
