Knows number names and counting sequence
- Counts to 100 by ones and tens
- Counts on from any number within 100
- Writes numbers to represent a group of objects from 0-20.
- Accurately counts up to 20 objects arranged in different configurations
- Compares objects and numbers up to 10 to determine whether one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the other group
Understands addition as putting together and adding to; Understands subtraction as taking apart and taking from
- Represents and solves addition and subtraction word problems within 10 using acting out situations, objects, drawings, expressions, or equations
- Decomposes (breaks apart) numbers within 10 into pairs in more than one way using objects, drawings, or equations (e.g., 5 = 2 +3 and 5 = 4 + 1)
- Finds pairs of numbers that make 10 ( If I have 4, I know that 6 more makes 10)
- Accurately and efficiently adds and subtracts within 5
- Composes and decomposes (breaks apart) numbers from 11-19 into a group of ten ones and some further ones using objects, drawing and equations (18 = 10 + 8)
